I've written it before that I think the 90s/early 00s were the true golden age of porn. Some say it was the 70s and/or 80s . . . the days of "Skinamax" and, from the late 70s, the intro of the VHS tape. A little earlier in the 70s, you have classics like Behind the Green Door and "Deep Throat." True.
But, regardless, both periods actually put a lot of work into their productions. Even more so by the 90s. I mean look at this--it's set in the 30s or 40s. They had to get an old car. They shot in a beautiful location. They needed period clothing (until they took it off). 
The 90s saw the breakup of the Soviet empire and a flood of gorgeous girls from Russia and Eastern Europe. They were never available back in the 70s and 80s! The Czech and Hungarian girls....amazing. By the end of the decade, the internet is kicking off which opens up a whole new realm of possibilities that are exciting.
Its not until about 2010, 2015 that the internet changes porn beyond recognition.
